We have such a great response to ThumbGuard we wanted to share some of our emails and letters.

Hi again, I haven't had much experience with this, but talking to other mums, my daughter is one of the most determined thumbsuckers I have heard of. To update you, we are having success during the day - no problems. That is a huge step forward from where we were. At night we take guards off before bath and bed, and then put them back on at bedtime. The best thing is we are not constantly talking to her about her thumbsucking which I am sure must impact positively on her emotionally.

Hello, I previously bought a FingerGuard for my younger daughter. It was very successful (she stopped completely within 3 weeks) and we are going to get a ThumbGuard for our older daughter. I just wanted to say thank you for your help.

I would just like to express how pleased we are with the results of our recent purchase of the thumb guard. I saw the advert in a magazine that my daughter Isabella brought home from school. Isabella who is 6 years old saw the advertisement and wanted to give it a try. As we had already tried every other method I thought we had nothing to lose. Isabella was delighted when it arrived and couldn't wait to try it out. She kept it on 24/7 for the first week and then wore it for a second week taking it off each night when she came in from school and then putting it back on before bed. Isabella has now stopped wearing the ThumbGuard for 5 days and we are delighted to say she has kicked the habit.

I would like to say a big thanks for the support you offered when I enquired about the guard. It has been a great success. Lots of children have asked Isabella about it so I only hope they try it too.

My daughter no longer sucks her thumb!!!!!!!!! (Nor twiddles her hair!) She had sucked her thumb and twiddled her hair since she was 18 months old – 3 and a half years! She wore ThumbGuard for two and a half weeks in total.

She was so excited about receiving the package, we wore it straight away. That was Saturday morning and she wore a turquoise strap to match her dancing uniform. We anticipated that people would ask her “What have you done to your thumb?” (which she did get a bit fed up with after a week), but she was proud to state that “This will help me stop sucking my thumb!” We decided to colour-coordinate the straps, and when she went to school, she wore colours that matched in with her uniform!

The school were a little worried, when she turned up with it on her thumb, as they thought it would interfere with writing, getting changed into PE, etc. But the first day at school with it on was fine (she just needed some help with doing up buttons). Other parents were interested in it and even the teachers (for their own children) – I did say they come in “big” sizes for older children and teenagers!

The teacher also suggested that we tied my daughter’s two plaits behind her head in a pony-tail to avoid twiddling hair, as she used to thumb suck and twiddle hair in unison. Well the hair twisting also stopped.

It’s now been about six weeks since she stopped. We haven’t had any messages from school to say she has been caught thumb-sucking or hair-twiddling…..so, it’s obviously still working.

I just wanted to put in writing to you how brilliant we found the ThumbGuard to be. My daughter is 3 1/2 and sucked both thumbs all the time. Obviously I had tried everything to stop it before finding you. Once we'd got the guards, it took 5 days to stop her sucking during the day and after 10 days she didn't need the guards either day or night. The great thing was that she was very proud to wear the guards - she loved the coloured bands - and she went around showing her friends just as if she had a new necklace!

I'm looking forward to taking her to the dentist next time, rather than dreading being told again about the damage she's doing!

Desperate and at the end of my patience I turned to the internet to find a way to stop my 5 year old sucking his thumb. I had tried all the suggestions but to no avail. I had images of my son growing up with dreadful teeth and then I found something which I thought might just work. Although sold in another country it was the only product I have ever come across of it's kind. ThumbGuard CURED my son of this habit and his teeth have started to realign themselves. Just wanted to say that I was completely surprised and shocked that my 4 1/2 year old daughter finally stopped sucking her thumb thanks to ThumbGuard. She wore them for 3 weeks in December 2001 at night only. I had tried every possible thing I had heard about, to no avail. I was skeptical as she had a die hard, serious habit. We had made some progress behaviorally since age 3 by telling her she was welcome to suck her thumb but she must do it in her room. Therefore she pretty much gave it up during the day. She still sucked her thumb when she got sleepy in the car, for naps or bedtime. She WANTED to stop, she would try for about 15 minutes at night and then cry because she was so exhausted while fighting this huge urge to suck her thumb. The ThumbGuard took away her need to fight the urge and the inner conflict. It simply helped her break the habit. She was so happy with herself! I wish I knew about these when she was 2!

I would add that I promoted ThumbGuard to her from the beginning as a special, beautiful bracelet for girls who want to have "princess teeth." I showed her the picture of the girl wearing it on your website and told her she was going to be a big girl just like the girl in the picture. We told her after wearing this special bracelet her teeth would not stick out anymore and she would have "princess teeth." Finally, when she wore the last bracelet and had not sucked her thumb for a whole month, we rewarded her by buying her a "big girl bed." She was so proud of herself. We gave her lots of positive encouragement and praise along the way. I'm totally surprised that only a few months later, her teeth have moved back to a normal position and do not stick out at all. They are completely in line with her other teeth and her smile looks so much prettier. So wanted to say thank you again and let you know that your product worked.

I just wanted to say "THANK YOU"! I had a lot of doubts that the ThumbGuard would be able to stop my four year old son from sucking his thumb, but i have to say it was a miracle! Three weeks of constant wearing and he doesn't even try to put his thumb in his mouth anymore. It didn't interfere at all with any of his daily activities, and after his initial reluctance, it didn't bother him at all. I wish I had this 10 years ago when my daughter was the same age (would have saved a lot of tears and dental visits!)
